about

Blues music rules Fresno, Fresno rules blues music, it's something in the water.
Legendary Blues Harmonicist John Clifton would be on this track, but Covid dot dot dot
OK!
In case you didn’t know.
Available resources stretched too thin are a problem. The things you like about Fresno have a lot to do with there being not too many people. My job, for some time, has been to inform and educate about the wonderful people and places in Fresno, and as a public service, frighten people away from moving here. See above.
I’m basically a happy person, so The Blues has never been my thing, but as an Ambassador Of Fresno, it seems like I should have a Fresno Blues. Hear it is.
My Fresno musician friends are invited and encouraged to cover it with their own name at the beginning.
I raise the 4 and 5 chords, which introduces a fluid, chromatic friendly, Monkish quality, and makes a classic progression seem fresher. It doesn’t really matter what order the 4 and 5 chords appear, it’s the blues.
I hope the “Drink Muddy Water” sections are obvious.

lyrics

Well Hey there I’m Brian Kenney Fresno
Fresno’s where I’m from X2
We gotta lotta problems there
butt hay, don’t you go yucking my yum ( That’s my job)

The town is full of railroads
They’re blockin the streets all day
The city planner’s bought and paid for
So you aint got shit to say

They got a lot of gang activity
Gang activity tweakers and sun
If you somehow ever go there
Be sure to take sunscreen and a gun

But don’t you ever think of moving here
Just go back the hell where you come from

The city of Fresno hates you
They’re proving it all day long
I thought this was California
But I can’t get buds for my bong

Regressive by it’s very nature
The isolation is deep
For some it’s an added attraction
For others convenient and cheap

But don’t you ever think of moving here
Just go back the hell where you come from

So if you don’t go to Fresno
You can’t get jacked there and left for dead
And if you don’t go to Fresno
The cops there can’t bust your head
But if you find yourself in Fresno
Just try to remember these things i’m trying to tell you

From the rendering plants of West Fresno
To the suburbs of Woodward Park
There's a twenty year difference in lifespan
From where poodles and pit bulls bark
And drive all the neighbors crazy
While the gangsters are stealing your car
They siphoned some 12 year old gas for it
So you know they won’t get far

They wanna steal a single tennis shoe and your plain prescription glasses
Smash your windshield for a cigarette butt
Or expired parking passes
Kype your catalytic converter while they’re jackin your spare tire
Drill drainage holes in your gas tank, set your SUV on fire
Because anything means nothing
Nothing means anything but the meth that’s in their head
Shoot you in the face laughing, leave you lying there, in critical condition

(John Clifton: Shredding harmonica solo while doing "The Worm” is seemingly cancelled, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020)

From the killing floors of Madera
To the cantaloupe fields of Parlier
( Except the Swedish girls in Kingsburg
and the boobs in their brassier)
I tell you this ain't no Stockton
No Bakersfield or Tulare
You know they call it Fresno
Because it’s really F’n scary

But don’t you ever think of moving here
Just go back the hell where you come from
Unless you’re a refugee or an Immigrant
Then we welcome you with open arms
( Put you to work on our farms)

So hey there San Francisco
Los Angeles and Sacramento too
I say Seattle to San Diego
Portland, you're just a drive on through…
You don’t wanna move to Fresno
You’ve got so much living left to do……

You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.
(Oh my god, he said it...)

about

Brian Kenney Fresno Fresno, California

My name is Brian Kenney Fresno, and I have this super fun solo ROCK show
where I sing modern TALES of urban legends and epics of the absurd- in a
sing along format, mostly about Fresno Ca, my home town, and everytime I say
"Fresno", everybody eats the raisins and says "WHOOO!" in a group
experience.
It's really fun!
Everybody laughs a lot!
