This song was inspired by my friend's Book of Etudes, by Yngwie Malmsteen. I had the pleasure of performing this song in The Poster Room of The Fillmore before and during the Dio show, with Yngwie opening. Dio was being interviewed mere feet away, and was always the model in my mind for how that song is to be sung. It was an honor, he was a classy dude.
On May 11th 2013, last Saturday, I met Yngwie briefly at his sound check in Fresno. He did not have time to sign my Mattellecaster or receive my DVD with his song on it, as he had other issues to address. He did offer me a few moments later, but the room was cleared for the sound check. The back door guard/monitor later told me that when he asked Ingvay to "let me know if you need anything, or I can do anything for you", Ingvay said, "If I want anything from YOU I'll fucking ask for it". I then decided I did not want Ingvay to sign my toy guitar, or to give him my DVD.
